Tobias Weisserth

Hamburg

Tobias Weisserth got his fair share of relocations. Born in Bavaria, Tobias moved around Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the US before settling down in Hamburg, Germany after graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Kaierslautern with a Diplom (FH) degree in Business Informatics. Having lived and worked in Hamburg for a number of years by now, repeated business trips and private travel allowed him to follow his passion – photography.

Tobias’ passion for photography developed in his college years, in particular when he took over an old film camera from a high school friend for little money and took it to Spain, walking the Camino de Santiago – or St. James Way all the way to Finisterre. Ever since, a camera has been a companion on all his travels and he rarely leaves the house without a camera. Travel and urban motives form most of Tobias’ work. Being particularly interested in the urban dynamics of human dwellings around the world, Tobias has developed an affection for people in urban transit – portraying them in their motion through places.

As the most precious moments always happen when you’re least prepared to conserve them, Tobias opts for light and small equipment in most cases, choosing the digital media mainly but not exclusively.
